POSITION TITLE: Food Service Assistant POSITION HOLDER: None EFFECTIVE DATE: IMMEDIATELY PAY STATUS: Part Time SALARY LEVEL: Hourly BENEFITS: 403b, Flexible Spending Account, Aflac ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL: Administrator APPROXIMATE SCHEDULE: Weekdays, Weekend Services, and Ministry Needs APPROXIMATE TIME COMMITMENT: Up to 28 hours per week PASTORAL AREA: Business Administration DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Food Service Director, Café Manager/ Executive Chef RELATES CLOSELY WITH: Café Manager, Executive Chef, Admin Assistants, Volunteers SCOPE: This is an hourly position requiring up to 28 hours per week to deliver services to clients in‑house. Weekend and evening work is scheduled as needed to maintain quality. Responsibilities are shared with the Café Manager and Executive Chef to cover the full week. PURPOSE OF POSITION: Set the standards and procedures for the Food Service Ministry, communicate them to staff and volunteers, train and support the team, monitor sales and service efforts, and uphold the church mission. The role also ensures all guests and employees are treated respectfully, fostering honesty, integrity and a servant’s heart. PRIMARY GIFT NEEDS: Leadership/ Administration, Faith, Organization, Discernment, and Helps/Service ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and motivate the Café Ministry Team, including recruitment, training, and creation of a Volunteer Serving Team alongside the Café Manager. Train volunteers and assign specific tasks. Assist in Café operations and provide kitchen culinary support. Handle cash deposits in a timely manner. Provide ongoing support to the Executive Chef as business needs dictate. Maintain Café area and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, upkeep and replacement. Support ministry events. Adhere to all relevant safety and sanitation rules. Monitor sales and service efforts of support staff, giving them proper training and tools. Communicate with other Church Departments to provide appropriate information. Supervise daily operations to deliver quality client sales and service, stressing professional and spiritual growth of all employees. Develop good working relationships with other ministries and the broader community. Advise Church Business Administrator of any guest problems or difficulties. Maintain work area orderly and professionally. Remain flexible in scheduling to meet church demand, completing additional assignments as directed. Develop outstanding customer service skills for staff and volunteers. Lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
