On-call duties are required one night per week and during weekends based on staffing needs, with a typical schedule from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Certifications/Requirements\n \n BLS/BCLS certification \n ACLS certification (to be obtained within 60 days of hire if not already held) \n Job Description\n The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will advocate for patient privacy and confidentiality, maintain a safe and clean environment, and respond promptly to emergency situations. Essential Functions\n \n Provide friendly, courteous, and respectful interactions with patients, families, and colleagues. \n Assist patients and staff as needed and seek assistance when necessary. \n Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care plans. \n Document patient data and nursing interventions accurately and in a timely manner. \n Administer medications and intravenous therapy according to physician orders and established protocols. \n Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to assure patient well-being during procedures. \n Maintain sterile fields during surgical procedures and ensure proper handling of sterile supplies and instruments. \n Conduct patient assessments and reassessments, including pain levels, to ensure effective pain management. \n Facilitate patient and family education based on identified learning needs and readiness. \n Prepare patients and families for discharge, incorporating necessary support systems and resources. \n Engage in professional development and promote learning among colleagues. \n Identify and address potential risks to patient safety and collaborate on strategies to reduce errors. \n Job Requirements\n \n Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. \n Current Massachusetts RN license. \n Less than 1 year of relevant experience is acceptable; O.R. nursing experience and CNOR certification are preferred. \n Exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. \n Additional Information\n This position may require holiday coverage and participation in a call rotation.
