About Probably Genetic Probably Genetic is changing the lives of patients living with severe, complex diseases. Our data platform is used by drug developers and patient advocacy groups to develop and launch treatments for these patients. Our technology discovers undiagnosed patients online, analyzes their disease state using machine learning and at‑home testing, and enables compliant communication with patients. About The Role We’re looking for our Founding Data Engineer who’s excited to help shape the future of how we use data to make better decisions and improve patient lives. In this role, you’ll establish our data engineering architecture and build the pipelines that power both internal insights and our commercial data products. Your work will help drive clarity, impact, and growth across the company. What you will do Partner closely with the Head of Engineering and Head of Product to turn complex data challenges into elegant, scalable solutions Build reliable, maintainable infrastructure in AWS using Terraform to support our growing data needs Design data tables and pipelines that serve the unique needs of our customers and internal teams Implement best‑in‑class data pipelines with observability built in from day one Analyze and visualize data in BI tools to enable informed business decisions and deliver tailored insights to customers Share your work and impact across teams—presenting results, learning from feedback, and continuously improving Who you are We’re excited to meet candidates from all backgrounds who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact. Here are a few things that will help you thrive in this role: A proven ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights and to collaborate effectively across teams Fluency with Python, SQL, and other relevant technologies Experience building advanced data infrastructure in AWS using Terraform Strong analytical thinking and hands‑on experience with data visualization tools Some things that are not required, but you could learn on the job: Working with healthcare data standards (including HL7, FHIR, OMOP, and HPO) Understanding marketing data from platforms like Google and Meta Deepening your expertise in HIPAA compliance and data security best practices A good person. We work with some of the most marginalized populations on the planet and empathy is key Patient‑focused and motivated to have a lasting, positive impact on humanity Comfortable in a fast‑paced, often ambiguous environment with rapid change Action‑oriented and excited to build a company from the ground up The salary range for this role is $150,000-$210,000 annually. Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. This is a hybrid role that will require working on‑site 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in San Francisco and we are open to relocation.
