The Calibration Technician B applies knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment across multiple disciplines, including acoustical, chemical, dimensional, DC/low frequency, RF/microwave, fluid, mechanical, optical, thermodynamics, and time and frequency. This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of measurement systems by selecting and using appropriate manual and automated calibration procedures. The technician typically works under minimal supervision, follows established policies and procedures to complete moderately complex tasks, and contributes to both technical and administrative activities in the calibration lab.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) across a wide range of disciplines, including pressure, temperature, torque, RF, and related parameters.
• Maintain primary, intrinsic, and secondary working calibration standards to ensure traceability and measurement integrity.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair precision equipment and test systems used in calibration activities.
• Develop and refine calibration procedures based on technical specifications, manufacturer documentation, and applicable standards.
• Collect and accurately record calibration data, analyze results, and identify and correct out-of-tolerance conditions and measurement errors.
• Prepare clear and complete calibration reports and certificates that document methods, results, and any adjustments made.
• Adapt equipment, fixtures, and techniques to support unique or complex measurement tasks as needed.
• Perform uncertainty evaluations and analysis to validate measurement results and support quality requirements.
• Train junior technicians in calibration methods, procedures, and proper use of test equipment.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to understand requirements, resolve technical issues, and support ongoing calibration needs.
• Perform lab housekeeping and related administrative duties to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work area.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the calibration lab.

• 4+ years of hands-on calibration experience in a commercial or similar calibration environment.
• Proficiency in general mathematics, algebra, and basic statistics for analyzing measurement data and uncertainty.
• Strong written communication skills for preparing calibration reports, certificates, and technical documentation.
• Strong verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members, customers, and training junior technicians.
• Technical writing ability to develop and document calibration procedures and work instructions.
• Practical experience calibrating and testing pressure, temperature, and torque equipment.
• Experience using spectrum analyzers for RF and microwave measurements.
• Experience using signal generators for RF and electronic test applications.
• Background working with RF systems, radio frequency testing, and associated test equipment.
• Familiarity with electronics and laboratory test equipment used in calibration activities.

• Experience performing commercial calibration services for a variety of customers and applications.
• Exposure to aerospace and defense environments or tooling and calibration needs is beneficial.
• Experience working in a lab setting with established procedures, standards, and documentation practices.
• Ability to adapt equipment and methods for unique or specialized measurement requirements.
• Experience in military, aerospace, or other high-reliability electronics environments is a plus.

The role is based within a small, collaborative team of approximately 12 technicians in a calibration lab located in Redmond, WA. The technician primarily works in a lab environment with access to a variety of test and measurement instruments, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and equipment for pressure, temperature, torque, and RF testing. After an initial contract period, there is an opportunity to work directly at customer sites, with an approximate split of 75% of time spent in the Redmond calibration lab and 25% at client locations. The environment emphasizes precision, documentation, and teamwork while supporting the tooling and calibration needs of demanding aerospace and defense applications.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redmond, WA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Redmond,WA.
