The Data Analyst II performs professional and technical work involving enterprise data analysis, reporting, and information management to support statewide Judiciary operations, strategic planning, and decision-making. Combines both business and technical expertise with complex reporting and data analysis initiatives by integrating data from multiple sources. Constructs reporting solutions, advises on reporting standards that support business requirements, and collaborates with Judiciary divisions to enhance the quality, accessibility, and use of data. Work is performed with moderate oversight from Technology Services Center management.

The ideal candidate brings solid analytical and technical skills, communicates clearly with both technical and non‑technical audiences, and works collaboratively across divisions. They are detail‑oriented, proactive in improving reporting processes, and committed to data quality, consistency, and professional public service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in database management, reporting, or data analysis.

OR

• Associate degree in a related technical field and four years of progressively responsible experience.

OR

• High school diploma and six years of progressively responsible experience in database management, reporting, or data analysis.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced database queries, automated reporting, and data visualization tools.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate data from multiple systems and apply validation standards.
• Success collaborating across business areas or leading data‑related projects.
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex data clearly.

Essential Duties

• Confer with Judiciary divisions, leadership, and external partners to identify complex business needs and construct data solutions that support operational and strategic decision-making. 
• Design, build, and maintain complex reports, dashboards, automated reporting processes, and data visualizations using multiple reporting and database tools. 
• Create and optimize advanced database queries to extract, validate, integrate, and analyze data from multiple systems. 
• Establish and maintain data standards, validation procedures, and reporting methodologies to promote consistency and data quality across the Judiciary. 
• Guide or coordinate enterprise reporting initiatives and assigned data projects involving multiple business areas. 
• Analyze trends and performance measures to improve business processes, reporting practices, and operational outcomes. 
• Collaborate with Technology Services Center staff, vendors, and external agencies on system enhancements, data integrations, and reporting solutions. 
• Maintain and enhance the Judiciary's internal reporting and communication resources to improve access to information and self-service reporting. 
• Provide support to staff regarding reporting tools, data practices, and reporting standards. 
• This position is responsible for all duties defined and other duties as assigned such as training others.
• The job entails the operations of various types of electronic equipment and new equipment may be introduced at any time.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of the Court Administrator’s Office in Montpelier, Vermont. This position may be eligible for an optional teleworking arrangement in accordance with the Judiciary’s Telework Policy, which would allow the individual to work in Montpelier or remotely with proximity to a Vermont court location. Scheduled hours of work generally follow public court hours; however, assignments may occasionally extend beyond those hours based on operational needs. Occasional travel to courts within the State of Vermont may be required, with travel reimbursed according to State policies.

The Data Analyst II is a non-exempt Judicial Branch position equivalent to pay grade 24, with a step 1 starting rate of $29.73 per hour.
