POSITION TITLE: Data Center Project Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB Companies is seeking a Project Engineer – Data Center Connectivity to support the planning, coordination, documentation, and execution of large-scale data center and mission-critical connectivity infrastructure projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Design Engineers, Technicians, Safety, Quality, vendors, subcontractors, clients, and general contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately, on schedule, and in alignment with ADB standards.

The Project Engineer – Data Center Connectivity will support both office and field operations, including project documentation, drawing and specification review, RFIs, submittals, change tracking, schedule support, material coordination, field reporting, quality documentation, customer communication, and project closeout.

This position requires a strong understanding of construction coordination, low-voltage systems, fiber optic infrastructure, structured cabling, OSP/ISP pathways, data center environments, and project controls. The ideal candidate is organized, technically capable, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment where accuracy, communication, and follow-through are critical.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Coordination           

• Support the Project Manager with day-to-day project coordination, planning, execution, documentation, and reporting
• Assist with project startup activities, including review of scope, drawings, specifications, schedules, project requirements, safety requirements, and client expectations
• Coordinate with ADB field teams, project leadership, clients, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to support safe and efficient project execution
• Participate in project meetings, daily coordination calls, site walks, schedule reviews, production meetings, and client update meetings as required
• Help track project milestones, labor plans, material requirements, open issues, constraints, deliverables, and completion dates
• Support the development and maintenance of project trackers, issue logs, RFI logs, submittal logs, material logs, change logs, punch lists, and closeout logs

Technical Project Support

• Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, cable schedules, pathway drawings, rack elevations, network room layouts, OSP plans, ISP plans, and related construction documents
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, constructability concerns, scope gaps, and potential field conflicts.
• Assist in preparing RFIs and coordinating responses with the client, general contractor, engineer, design team, and ADB project leadership
• Support field teams with interpretation of drawings, specifications, installation details, labeling requirements, cable schedules, and project standards
• Provide technical coordination for data center connectivity scopes that may include fiber optic cabling, copper cabling, structured cabling, cable tray, ladder rack, racks, cabinets, patch panels, splice enclosures, vaults, duct banks, innerduct, pathways, grounding coordination, testing, labeling, and closeout documentation
• Assist with high-level quantity tracking, material takeoffs, and field production validation

Documentation and Project Controls

• Maintain accurate project documentation in accordance with ADB and client requirements.
• Assist with preparation, review, and tracking of RFIs, submittals, transmittals, meeting minutes, project reports, daily reports, production reports, and closeout documents
• Track drawing revisions, bulletins, design updates, information letters, field changes, and client-directed changes
• Support the Project Manager with change management documentation, including field work orders, T&M tickets, cost backup, ROM estimates, change order logs, and supporting documentation
• Help collect, review, and organize daily field reports, timecards, production quantities, manpower reports, progress photos, and issue updates
• Maintain organized records for internal reporting, client reporting, audits, billing support, and final project turnover

Material and Vendor Coordination

• Assist with material planning, procurement tracking, delivery coordination, inventory verification, and shortage identification
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to track material status, lead times, substitutions, deliveries, product data, and required documentation

Field Execution and Quality Support

• Work with Superintendents, Foremen, Lead Technicians, and Quality teams to support field installation activities
• Assist with field walks, progress verification, quality inspections, punch list development, and issue resolution.
• Help verify that installed work aligns with current drawings, specifications, client standards, labeling requirements, and ADB quality expectations

Safety and Compliance

• Promote ADB’s safety culture and support safe work planning at all times
• Coordinate with Safety, project leadership, and field supervision to support site-specific safety requirements, orientations, pre-task planning, job hazard analysis documentation, and safe work practices
• Identify and communicate unsafe conditions, access constraints, housekeeping concerns, and potential risks to project leadership

Preconstruction and Estimating Support

• Support preconstruction and estimating efforts as needed, including document review, scope review, quantity takeoffs, RFQ support, subcontractor quote tracking, vendor quote tracking, and constructability feedback
• Assist with reviewing customer requirements, existing conditions, project schedules, labor assumptions, material requirements, and proposal documentation
• Support the development of basis of estimate information, project assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and technical narratives
• Participate in site surveys and help document existing conditions, pathway availability, installation constraints, and potential risks

Closeout and Turnover

• Support project closeout throughout the life of the project, not just at the end
• Collect, organize, and review closeout documentation including as-builts, redlines, test results, O&M documents, warranties, product data, inspection records, punch list completion records, and final turnover packages
• Coordinate with field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and project leadership to resolve missing or incomplete closeout items
• Help ensure final documentation is accurate, complete, organized, and submitted on time

  WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• This role operates out of a temperature-controlled office environment
• May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects
• When working on site, will be required to wear common PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hart hat, and safety-toed boots
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, copiers, and cell phones

  EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• 2+ years of experience in construction coordination, telecommunications, data center construction, structured cabling, fiber optics, low voltage, OSP/ISP infrastructure, project engineering, or project administration preferred
• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, telecommunications, information technology, project management, or a related field preferred
• Experience supporting hyperscale data center, mission-critical, telecommunications, fiber, structured cabling, or low-voltage construction projects
• Familiarity with fiber optic cabling, copper cabling, structured cabling, cable tray, ladder rack, racks, cabinets, pathways, vaults, duct banks, innerduct, splice enclosures, testing, labeling, and closeout documentation
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Smartsheet, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BuildingConnected, or similar project management platforms
• Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, field tickets, material logs, punch lists, and closeout packages
• Knowledge of BICSI, NEC, TIA, OSHA, and general data center construction practices preferred
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
• BICSI, RCDD, DCDC, fiber optic, low-voltage, or related certifications are a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent required
