Aerospace Buyer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Buyer for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Irvine, CA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented purchasing professional with strong aerospace manufacturing experience, supplier management skills, and the ability to keep materials moving to support production schedules.

The Aerospace Buyer will work in a collaborative manufacturing environment alongside Operations, Customer Service, Planning, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Accounting. This is a strong opportunity for a buyer who enjoys technical purchasing, cross-functional problem solving, supplier negotiations, and contributing directly to cost control, quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Source and purchase aerospace components and production materials, including electronic components, PCBA, castings, electromechanical devices, machined parts, and outside processing services.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, quality requirements, and other purchasing terms.
- Manage supplier performance, delivery schedules, quality concerns, pricing issues, and supply-chain risks to support production needs.
- Review technical drawings, blueprints, BOMs, flag notes, and purchasing requirements to ensure accurate supplier communication.
- Enter, maintain, and track purchase orders within the ERP system while monitoring open orders, lead times, and material shortages.
- Partner with Engineering, Planning, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Accounting to resolve purchasing, supplier, and material availability issues.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $75,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year.
- Job type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Schedule: Full-time.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Source, purchase, and expedite aerospace components and manufacturing materials to support production schedules.
- Manage RFQs, supplier selection, purchase orders, negotiations, and supplier performance follow-up.
- Review technical drawings, BOMs, work order travelers, MRP reports, and material requirements to ensure accurate purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve shortages, delivery issues, quality concerns, and purchasing discrepancies.

- 6 to 10 years of relevant purchasing, buying, procurement, or supply-chain experience in aerospace or a closely related manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of aerospace purchasing, supplier management, procurement processes, and production material flow.
- Experience sourcing components such as electronic components, PCBA, castings, electromechanical components, machined parts, and outside processing services.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, BOMs, flag notes, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing data, including MRP reports, stock status reports, material variance reports, purchase order history, lead times, and material shortages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Visual ERP or INFOR Visual is highly preferred.
- Database experience is a plus.
- Experience working with approved vendor lists, authorized resellers, original component manufacturers, and independent distributors.
- Strong working knowledge of supplier quality information, Engineering Master, Quote Master, Manufacturing Windows, Building Masters, and related manufacturing system data.
