Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/Progressive Care & Thoracic Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00pm-7:30am. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3 (IMC), 1:4 (General Care).

Highlights:

• Work in a Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility, recognized as Wisconsin's leading hospital
• Provide care in both IMC Acute Medical/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic specialty units (29-bed unit with daily census of 29)
• Specialty populations include Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
• Collaborate with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Epic charting system; 36 hours of orientation provided
• Float to similar units as needed; one pre-approved time off period available

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact State RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years
• Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Ventilator and transplant experience required (strong proficiency mandatory)
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Academic Level I or II Trauma Center experience or similar large facility background required
• Must pass facility telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria (100% identification of lethal rhythms, no incorrect answers on 3rd-degree heart blocks, 80% overall passing score)
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Ventilated patient care, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Post-transplant care and management
• Arterial line management and interpretation of arterial blood gases
• Central line and PICC line management, accessing and managing ports
• Chest tube management, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac
• Blood product administration, heparin and insulin protocols, cardiac drip titration
• PCA, procedural sedation, and pain management
• Pre/post hemodialysis, neurosurgery, and management of complex medical conditions
