Drug Development Materials Science Associate
Eurofins Agroscience Services North Carolina
Eurofins seeks an Associate Scientist to support drug development through solid-state characterization and particle analysis of pharmaceutical compounds. The role involves synthesizing and evaluating salt forms and polymorphs, collaborating across teams, and contributing to materials science initiatives in Groton, Connecticut.
Responsibilities
- Conduct solid-state characterization studies including X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and microscopy
- Support multidisciplinary teams in crystallization, polymorph, and salt screening activities
- Perform particle size, shape, and surface property characterization of pharmaceutical powders
- Collaborate with medicinal chemistry and formulation teams to develop selection strategies
- Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebook documentation per accepted practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years experience or Master's degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, or chemical engineering
- Experience with solid-state characterization techniques such as XRPD, DSC, TGA, or spectroscopy
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
- Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry
- Excellent organizational, communication, and independent work abilities
- Motivation to learn new technologies and scientific approaches
