Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Interventional Radiology \n Discipline: RN \n Start Date: ASAP \n Duration: 13 weeks \n 30 hours per week \n Shift: 10 hours, days \n Employment Type: Travel \n \n Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview\n The Interventional Radiology/Cardiology RN provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing invasive interventional procedures, including angiography, embolization, cardiac catheterization, and other minimally invasive interventions. This role involves collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Essential Job Functions\n \n Perform a variety of nursing duties, adapting quickly to different tasks while maintaining efficiency and composure. \n Nursing/Circulator Role: \n \n Administer medications as ordered, including anticoagulants, vasoactive agents, contrast, and emergency drugs. \n Maintain sterile technique and assist with procedures as needed. \n Act as a patient advocate and anticipate the needs of the interventionalist. \n Recognize and respond rapidly to complications such as arrhythmia, bleeding, reactions to contrast, stroke alerts, and cardiac arrest. \n \n Contrast Allergy Management Collaboration: \n \n Work collaboratively with Radiology Technicians and physicians to identify and address contrast allergies or sensitivities. \n Participate in pre-procedure discussions regarding appropriate contrast agents, ensuring allergy considerations are communicated during the timeout. \n \n Moderate Sedation Role: \n \n Monitor patients for moderate sedation, ensuring continual assessment. \n Verify ASA classification and consult anesthesia for an ASA score of IV or greater. \n Provide moderate sedation per protocol and monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, and patient responses. \n \n Scrub Role: \n \n Function as the scrub technologist using sterile techniques to assist physicians during procedures. \n Prepare and organize sterile instruments and procedural trays. \n Anticipate physician needs and respond quickly during critical moments. \n \n Monitor Role: \n \n Function as a primary monitor, recording hemodynamic data, pressures, and procedural events. \n Ensure accurate documentation and communication of real-time findings to the procedural team. \n Operate and troubleshoot physiological monitoring systems. \n \n Support to the Team Peri-Procedure: \n \n Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and connecting monitoring equipment. \n Verify allergies, NPO status, renal function, and other relevant clinical factors. \n Perform patient identification and timeout processes in accordance with institutional policies. \n \n Department Support: \n \n Manage supplies, ensuring par levels and inventory accuracy. \n Assist with room turnover efficiency, cleaning, and preparation for the next case. \n Ensure devices are cleaned, charged, and stored properly. \n \n Qualifications\n \n Education: \n \n Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing school. \n Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). \n \n Experience: \n \n Required: At least one year of experience in critical care, emergency, cath lab, or interventional radiology. \n Desired: At least three years of experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab, along with conscious sedation training. \n \n Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: \n \n Current RN license in the State of Oregon. \n Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. \n Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty preferred (e.g., RCIS, NIH Stroke Scale), as well as IV certification. \n \n Specialized Knowledge and Skills: \n \n \n Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID 37747516.
