Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Summary:
The Operating Room Nurse provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care, supporting surgical teams and ensuring patient safety from preoperative preparation through postoperative recovery. The role involves coordinating surgical workflows, advocating for patients, and delivering culturally responsive, high-quality care.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients and verify documentation to facilitate smooth perioperative processes.
• Coordinate and support surgical teams by managing equipment, safety checklists, and communication.
• Monitor patient condition throughout the surgical process, recognizing changes and initiating appropriate interventions.
• Document intraoperative events and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients and families on perioperative care, safety, and discharge instructions.
• Participate in on-call coverage to support emergent and urgent surgical cases.

Qualifications:

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications or obtain within six months of hire.
• Demonstrated clinical competency and high-risk competency within designated timeframes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a dynamic, clinical environment.
