1:1 Student Aide/Paraprofessional (3 positions available) JobID: 8773 Position Type: Support Staff / Teacher Assistant Date Posted: 7/9/2025 Location: Yorkville Early Childhood Center A student requires a 1:1 aide as specified in his IEP for morning session only. The same qualifications are present in a paraprofessional, with the exception that this paraprofessional would be responsible for the safety and learning engagement of one student. The candidate would need to be able to lift and move the student, with training. This is a part‑time position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge of student needs, including educational, medical, physical, sensory, speech/language, social/emotional, recreational, vocational, etc., as established by a multidisciplinary team and implement as needed. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel. Demonstrate effective organizational skills, time management, and flexibility to meet staff and student needs. Planning and Preparation Check and maintain appropriate student‑related equipment after receiving specialized training. Complete paperwork and data‑tracking duties to assist the educational team. Communicate concerns to the team for effective planning and preparation. Predict challenges and communicate concerns to professional team members. Provide direct instructional and academic support to students in the classroom and throughout the academic day as determined by the educational team. Assist students in daily activities such as lifting into chairs, positioning, feeding, and using the washroom appropriately (including changing, assisting with personal hygiene, etc.). Implement special tools/programs following training to assist students with varied needs/diagnoses. Instruction Assist the teacher with maintaining an inclusive, learning‑centered environment and experiences. Assist and monitor student use of assistive technology. Assist students in accessing instructional aspects by providing assistance with organization, accommodations, and modifications as indicated through communication with the case manager or documentation regarding student needs. Professional Responsibilities Establish a positive rapport with staff, students, and families. Consult or meet with teachers or other professionals utilizing appropriate channels to resolve concerns and request direction for new or unfamiliar tasks. Professional Conduct, Leadership, and Growth Provide and communicate information in a timely manner about students or potential concerns impacting assignments, equipment, or materials. Refer questions from families to appropriate school personnel. Model appropriate hygiene, appearance, and social interactions expected within a school environment. Demonstrate flexibility in professional responsibilities to address student and classroom needs, evidenced by effective listening and openness to learning new behaviors. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.
