Position Summary

To clean and stock guest rooms to ensure the company's high standards of cleanliness.

Example of Duties

Essential Functions

1. Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, windows and floor surfaces using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents by extending arms over head, bending and stooping.
2. Strip and make beds, changing bed linens which may require lifting bedspreads weighing a maximum of 40 pounds.
3. Dust all furniture, pictures, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly. Check under bed to remove trash or other debris. Maintain cleanliness of public space, i.e.: lobby, public restrooms, offices, elevators and stairways as assigned.
4. Push and pull vacuum throughout entire room and empty trash.
5. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms.
6. Sign for keys, retrieve, push cart weighing up to 150 pounds. Visually inspect rooms for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion of room. Must report all repairs or maintenance problems to supervisor.
7. Greet guests in hallways or in passing, ask if they are enjoying their stay.

Supportive Functions

• Respond in a timely manner to guest's requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested.
• Report all suspicious persons, activities or hazardous and unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager.
• Turn in all items found in employee's working area to the property Lost and Found Department.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor such as cleaning rooms, assisting Room Attendants or cross training when necessary.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and stretch while performing cleaning duties.
• Regularly push, pull, and maneuver loaded housekeeping carts and equipment throughout the property.
• Frequently lift, carry, and move supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
• Work in confined spaces and use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.
• Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.

Qualifications

Grooming

• Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
• Wear required uniform and name badge while on duty.
• Practice good personal hygiene consistent with a guest-facing hospitality environment.
• Comply with hotel grooming and appearance standards and safety requirements.

General Knowledge

• Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, as well as guests.
• Ability to follow instructions, directions, and meet deadlines, including the thorough cleaning of a minimum of 18 rooms as specified by management.
• Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as labels and instructions and basic guest requests.

Experience

Prefer some previous housekeeping experience.

Education

Any combination or education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Other

Upon employment all associates are required to comply with the standards, rules and regulations which may be established by the Company and updated from time to time. Associates who violate property rules or have irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

The Hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays and overtime to reflect the business needs of the property. Associates may also be required to attend group and/or department meetings in addition to the work shift as necessary. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
