Sr. Systems Engineer - BatteryJob Category: Senior Engineer Requisition Number: SRENG001410The Sr. Systems Engineer will work with the rest of Our Next Energy's product development team to develop the system design and requirements for battery packs. They will be responsible for the battery design on a high abstraction layer from concept to production. They should maintain a holistic understanding of the entire battery pack. This includes ensuring that all elements—E/E hardware, software, and mechanical components—are properly integrated. They are also responsible for making sure customer requirements are fully cascaded and satisfied.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Requirement elicitation and gathering, managing and documenting all requirements from customer projects; cascading requirements to product development teamDevelop complete system architecture in coordination with the E/E, hardware, software and ME design teamsCreate and maintain requirements traceability in company toolsetSupport system level integration testing plans, requirements verification and compliancePerform/support in-vehicle & breadboard activities when requiredManage resolution or architecture issues; enforce design commonality (as practical) across conceptsSupport system DFMEA creation and risk mitigation plansPrepare customer presentations for reviewGenerate engineering design documentation and specificationsPerform physical testing on engineering prototypesAssist with DV/PV test requirements between internal and external teamsLead root cause analyses and problem solving (8D, RedX structure problem solving experience a plus)Analyze test data, write detailed reports, present results and recommendations to engineering managementWork closely with operations, manufacturing, production engineers and suppliers to ensure products are designed properly for manufacture and assemblyManage and verify requirements using the appropriate software toolWork with internal and customer teams to define/improve processesPreferred Qualifications:Technical degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, computer, systems engineeringExperience with requirements managing tools such as DOORS / JAMA / Codebeamer / Polarion4+ years of industry experiencePreferred 2+ years of experience with battery module and/or pack design or battery thermal systemsPrior work deriving requirements form industry standards / regulations / normsGeneral knowledge of product and functional safety concepts as they relate to battery systemsDemonstrated competence in the development of electrical and /or electromechanical systemsExperience working directly with OEM / Tier 1 customers on integration topics highly preferredDetailed understanding of mechanical part fabrication methods (e.g., machining, stamping, extrusion, welding, injection molding, casting, etc.)MBSE experience using tools such as Cameo / Enterprise Architect / Magic Draw / CapellaBasic knowledge of SolidWorks / Onshape or similar mechanical CAD software (3D, 2D)A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skillsStrong communication abilities with a preference for working in teams and mentoring engineersResolve to own issues from beginning to end – our team is lean, agile and dynamicThe Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Demonstrated Competencies:Battery System ArchitectureRequirements EngineeringCross-Functional System IntegrationBattery Performance ModelingVerification & Validation StrategyFunctional Safety & Risk ManagementIssue Resolution & Root Cause AnalysisProgram Execution in a Startup EnvironmentOur Next Energy Inc.
