Job Summary:
This Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN position is located in Louisville, Kentucky. The role involves providing post-operative recovery care in a busy inpatient and outpatient PACU environment with a bed capacity of 22 to 26. The candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of patient types, including trauma cases, neuro, colorectal, and GYN/Oncology patients, with an emphasis on stroke assessment skills and medication safety.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/17/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure, NIHSS, ACLS, BLS certifications, with at least 2 years of PACU experience preferred; LVL 1 experience is a plus.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with stroke assessment skills, EVD, Alines, CT management, IV starts, vents, cardiac drips, sedation, and pain management.
• Float: None.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit features include a 22- to 26-bed inpatient and outpatient recovery environment with an average of 50 cases daily.
  • Patient Ratios: RN: 1:2; CNAs float during day shifts, with CNA support sometimes available during night shifts.
  • Support staff includes CNAs, a 24/7 anesthesia team, surgery, RT, hospitalists, and intensivists.
  • Technology/Equipment involves Cerner EMR, Plum ICU IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and hospital-specific equipment.
  • Orientation: 2 days of unit and facility orientation.
  • Scheduling: Every third weekend rotation, 16 hours of weekend on-call within a 6-week cycle, with holiday shifts in summer and winter.
  • Shift times are from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with a 6-week schedule cycle, planned 4-5 weeks in advance.
  • Night shift involves a close-knit culture with some younger nurses, and scrubs are seal blue or OR blue. Parking is free, with access to a parking garage during night shifts.
