Retail Sales Associate

The Retail Sales Associate interacts and assists customers, donors and others with merchandise selection, suggestion selling and cashiering in a courteous and professional manner. Pay rate: $21.63/hour.

Essential functions and responsibilities include: proactively acknowledging, greeting and helping customers in any area of the store; assisting customers/donors in a timely and courteous manner by answering questions or directing them to a supervisor; handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions, closing out cash drawer and balancing all point of sale (POS) transactions; communicating through standard telephone and wireless audio systems; merchandising, restocking and providing general floor maintenance where needed; maintaining a clean work environment; supporting team members, assisting supervisors and leads when necessary; building and maintaining internal and external customer satisfaction; contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed; demonstrating safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; and performing other duties as assigned.

Position requirements include: high school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required; no experience required; ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job; while performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 30 pounds; have developed fine motor control; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain); able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills; organizing, sorting, categorizing, counting, adding, subtracting; interpreting data; problem solving; communicating with the public; verbal and written communication skills; retail store environment, temperature varies, loud noises, occasional crowds, exposure to dust.
