Staff Accountant

Calling all Staff Accountants!! Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization located in the Durham, NC area, needs a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to work on a temporary-to-hire basis. The role is yours once you get started-you simply begin as a temporary employee of Beacon Hill to help expedite the hiring process.

While working as the Staff Accountant, you will work alongside a team helping to assist the Controller with responsibilities including:

• Bank and general ledger account reconciliations
• Preparing and posting journal entries
• Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
• Supporting grant accounting and restricted fund tracking
• Assisting with audit preparation and financial reporting
• Performing account analyses and researching variances
• Various related duties and projects as needed

The accounting team is highly supportive and provides excellent exposure to nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This is an in-office position; however, the daily schedule offers some flexibility.

To be considered for this specific position, you would need to have:

• 3+ years of accounting experience
• A BS/BA in Accounting (Finance degrees considered with a strong accounting background)
• Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred but not required
• Experience with general ledger reconciliations and month-end close activities
• ERP or accounting software experience
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
