Plant SuperintendentThe Senior Construction Superintendent is responsible for full field execution of public works construction projects, with a primary focus on pump stations, lift stations, and wastewater treatment plants. This role leads all on-site construction activities from mobilization through commissioning, ensuring projects are built safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with contract documents and regulatory requirements.This position requires deep, hands-on superintendent experience in municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including coordination of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA systems. The ideal candidate is a strong field leader who can manage complex work in live systems, interact confidently with owners and inspectors, and drive crews to successful project completion.Field Leadership & Project ExecutionLead and manage all day-to-day field construction activities for pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, and related public works facilitiesPlan, schedule, and sequence work to meet contract milestones and critical path requirementsDirect and coordinate multiple foremen, crews, and subcontractors across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation scopesMaintain constant jobsite presence and accountability for productivity, workmanship, and safetyIdentify constructability issues early and implement field-driven solutionsWork closely with safety manager to enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements with zero tolerance for unsafe workSet the safety standard on site through leadership and examplePublic Works & Technical OversightOversee construction of: Pump stations, lift stations, and force mainsWastewater treatment plant structures and processes (headworks, basins, clarifiers, piping, and structures)Mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation installationsCoordinate work within active and existing facilities to minimize service interruptionsEnsure compliance with municipal standards, specifications, and inspection requirementsInterface directly with owners, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory representativesSCADA, Controls & CommissioningCoordinate installation, integration, and testing of SCADA systems, including PLCs, instrumentation, and communication networksWork closely with controls contractors, electricians, and owner IT/operations staffVerify proper installation and termination of instrumentation and control wiringSupport factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and system startupLead commissioning, functional testing, and turnover activitiesEnsure SCADA documentation, O&M manuals, and as-builts are complete and accurateQuality Control & DocumentationEnsure all work meets contract documents, plans, specifications, and quality standardsCoordinate inspections, testing, and approvals with engineers and inspectorsAddress non-conforming work immediately and drive corrective actionsMaintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, schedules, and field documentationSupport punch list completion and final project closeoutManpower, Equipment & Subcontractor ManagementManage field staffing levels and equipment needs to meet project demandsSupervise subcontractors and enforce schedule, safety, and quality expectationsCoordinate deliveries, laydown areas, and site logisticsMentor foremen and field leaders; enforce company policies and performance standardsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or trade background strongly preferred10+ years of superintendent experience in public works constructionExtensive experience with: Pump stations and lift stationsWastewater treatment plantsMunicipal water and sewer infrastructureProven experience coordinating SCADA, PLCs, instrumentation, and controls on water/wastewater projectsStrong working knowledge of TCEQ regulations, municipal standards, and OSHA requirementsDemonstrated ability to manage work in live systems and confined spacesAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and control diagramsProficient in construction documentation and basic computer applicationsCore CompetenciesStrong field leadership and decision-makingClear, confident communication with owners and inspectorsProactive problem-solving and schedule controlHigh accountability for safety, quality, and productionAbility to manage complex, multi-discipline scopes simultaneouslyWork Environment & Physical RequirementsFull-time field-based role at active construction sitesExposure to weather, noise, confined spaces, and heavy equipmentAbility to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbsWillingness to work extended hours as required
