Job Summary Provides respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians. Performs all types of respiratory care including diagnostic testing, treadmills, complete PFTs, ABG machine maintenance, and hemodynamics. Performs all types of general floor therapies and procedures in specialty areas such as ICU, PACU, etc. Provides assessment and treatment for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Ability to precept and train staff, students, and orientees. Responsibilities Plan and organize workload; monitor work assignments, reschedule, cancel, and coordinate workflow with staff. Adjust workload as needed. Perform diagnostic tests such as simple spirometry, pulmonary function, and pulse oximetry. Perform arterial line insertions following appropriate training and certification. Carry out age‑appropriate treatment needs for patients. Administer all routine respiratory care services, e.g., SVN, IPPB therapy, all O2 therapies. Complete and document patient care assessment and therapy response. Perform PFT testing, EKGs, EEGs, and stress testing. Report results accurately and timely. Assist with discharge planning, set up home care, and participate in discharge planning meetings with the patient care team. Participate in departmental decision making, staff meetings, committee participation. Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Special Skills: Understanding of the principles of asepsis and infection control, including isolation. Knowledge of volume ventilators and patient hemodynamics. Excellent customer service skills. Computer skills preferred. Ability to precept and train staff, students, and orientees. Leadership ability to meet departmental needs. Minimum Requirements: Education: Completion of a formal two-year respiratory education program meeting certification (CRT) or registration (RRT) requirements. Licensure/Certifications: Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist in Arizona and CPR. ACLS, PALS, and NRP required within 12 months of employment as required by the facility. Preferred Requirements: Experience in acute care and ICU settings.
