Position Overview

A regional healthcare system in western North Carolina is seeking an experienced OB/GYN physician for an ongoing locum tenens assignment supporting two community hospitals.

This long-term opportunity offers recurring 24-hour beeper call coverage with manageable patient volumes, broad-scope obstetrics and gynecology, and temporary privileges available for qualified candidates. Physicians credential at both facilities but only cover one location during each scheduled assignment.

Provider Compensation

• $3,600 per 24-hour call
• Includes first 2 callback hours
• $275/hour callback after included hours

Pay Ranking: Top 10% among comparable North Carolina community hospital OB/GYN locum assignments.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour OB/GYN call coverage
• Evaluate obstetrical emergencies
• Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Manage gynecologic emergencies
• Perform inpatient rounding
• Admit and discharge patients
• Perform gynecologic surgical procedures
• Interpret fetal monitoring
• Perform obstetrical ultrasound interpretation
• Manage postpartum complications
• Collaborate with Certified Nurse Midwives and nursing staff
• Complete documentation within McKesson and Athena EMRs

Required Clinical Experience

• Board Certified or Board Eligible OB/GYN
• Active North Carolina Medical License
• ACLS
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Low-risk obstetrics
• High-risk obstetrics
• Cesarean sections
• Vaginal deliveries
• Complicated deliveries
• Breech deliveries
• Multiple gestations
• Abruptions
• Third and fourth-degree laceration repair
• Office gynecology
• Open gynecologic surgery
• Diagnostic and minor laparoscopic surgery
• Major operative gynecologic surgery

Preferred

• Fellowship training
• Forceps delivery experience
