We are a small, dynamic nonprofit organization whose work sits at the intersection of local Jewish journalism, relational engagement, and community connection , reaching tens of thousands of Jewish adults who are often underserved by traditional institutions. Our team is passionate about connecting past and present by telling the stories of our communities today. We are based in the Twin Cities and currently operate in Cincinnati with plans for additional expansion communities. Job Summary Jewfolk, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and motivated journalist with a passion for storytelling and community engagement to help grow both our Twin Cities and Cincinnati platforms. This full-time role offers remote work with schedule flexibility and the opportunity to cover meaningful local stories in Jewish life and culture. This position reports to the Editor-in-Chief. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with editors to identify timely stories of strong interest to Jewfolk audiences Produce and edit journalism across mediums and platforms, including attending and reporting on events, and working with the Editor in Chief on special projects Monitor analytics to inform and proactively contribute to editorial strategy Partner with colleagues to generate and implement new ideas for audience acquisition and to strengthen brand voice and content reach Additional Responsibilities Develop strategies to boost engagement and visibility using SEO, social media, email, and other tools, as appropriate Contribute creative ideas to build audience engagement through strong user experience, visuals, and human-centered design Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in journalism, content creation, or a relevant role in a newsroom environment Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in a deadline-driven and accuracy-based environment An understanding of social media trends and strategies to convert engagement into action Curious, organized, and proactive, with consistent follow-through Comfortable using data and digital tools (Google Analytics, SEO, CMS) Understanding of how to build community — online or in person — and listen to audience needs Familiarity with Jewish culture, news, and community life and excited to reflect that in your work Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent relationship-building skills Bonus if you have Experience managing content calendars and coordinating freelance contributors Skills in visual media, newsletters, or digital events (e.g., Instagram Live) Knowledge of AI tools to streamline digital workflows (not for content generation) Proficiency with online tools (Google Workplace, WordPress, Mailchimp, Airtable, HubSpot, Canva, etc.) Requirements Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field or equivalent experience While the role primarily works remotely, the candidate must reside in the Minneapolis/St. Paul or Cincinnati metro area with preference for Twin Cities in order to cover newsworthy events. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jewfolk, Inc.
