Join the home for entrepreneurs!The Mechanical Applications engineer will work alongside other bid team members to design, price, and propose opportunities to our customers. This role will be responsible for among other things, concepting and manifests required to bid integration and products.Your Role in Our TeamCreate concepts and manifests within the scope of customer requirements as outlined in their RFP within the timeframe given by our customersSupport bid development process from receipt of RFP to submission of proposal, including aiding the creation of RFQ packages for vendors and writing technical SOW for proposalDemonstrate a strong expertise in material handling system design, equipment technology, and operational processLead design effort based on client’s request for the material handling system(s) using their data or working through their requirements to create system solutions solving client issues, enhancing processing efficiency and supporting end user requirementsProvide technical expertise during sales phase showcasing Körber’s capability to develop industry leading solutions and build trust with clientsSupport multiple client projects with a range of $100K - $250MConduct external meetings with clients as requiredConduct internal meetings with clients as requiredCreate / Utilize / Explain, Material Flow Calculator that develops the Basis of Design (BOD)Be a subject matter expert on various types of material handling equipment in the market to ensure the best possible solutionWork with client to create weighted Selection Criteria Matrix driving optimal solution selections for end users and KörberCreate Process Flow DiagramsCreate Material Flow DiagramsEnsure mechanical system designs align with electrical control capabilities supporting solution requirementsCreate Basis of DesignCreate Description of OperationProvide mechanical support for system and product simulation and emulation testingAfter award, work with the assigned execution team and operations to successfully hand off the projectYour ProfileAbility to understand core customer’s specificationsProficiency with AutoCAD 2D and Navisworks for layouts, system concepts, and design modifications, modeling and draftingExperience designing, configuring, and supporting mechanical systems for industrial, automation, conveyor, robotics, or intralogistics applicationsAbility to read, interpret, and create technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and bills of materialsUnderstanding of system integration, including interfaces between mechanical, electrical, controls, and software componentsFamiliarity with engineering standards, safety requirements, and industry best practicesExperience working directly with customers, sales teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders to support pre‑sales and post‑sales activitiesAbility to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiencesStrong collaboration skills when working with sales, project management, manufacturing, and service teamsResults‑oriented mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction and solution qualityStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prepare technical documentation, proposals, presentations, and application notesComfortable presenting solutions and recommendations to customers and internal leadershipExcellent analytical skillsHigh level of accountability, ownership, and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environmentStrong organizational and time management skillsProactive, adaptable, and continuous‑improvement mindsetEducation and Experience QualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline requiredMaster’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferredEquivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be consideredMinimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or application engineering roles within industrial, automation, material handling, or supply chain solutions environmentsDemonstrated experience supporting customer‑specific mechanical solutions, including system design, configuration, and technical feasibility assessmentsPrior experience working in pre‑sales, application engineering, or solution development in collaboration with sales and project teamsHands‑on experience with industrial systems such as conveyors, automated material handling systems, robotics, or intralogistics solutions strongly preferredExperience supporting projects across the full lifecycle, from concept development and proposal support through implementation and commissioningExperience working in a remote or distributed team environment preferredAdditional RequirementsTravel - 25%Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required by business needsMust possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, all required travel documentation, including a valid passport where international travel is necessaryMust be able to lawfully enter and exit the United States and other countries required for business travelMust not have any legal or regulatory restrictions that would prevent the issuance, renewal, or use of required travel documents, or otherwise limit the ability to fulfill the travel requirements of the roleEligible applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
