Job Title: Manager in Training (MIT)
Location: Kansas City Metro Area Restaurant Group is seeking a passionate and driven Manager in Training (MIT) to join our growing multi-unit restaurant organization known for exceptional barbecue, authentic hospitality, and operational excellence. The Manager in Training (MIT) program is a comprehensive leadership development opportunity designed to prepare high-potential individuals for restaurant management roles across our organization. Through an immersive 20-week training program, you will gain hands-on experience in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations while learning directly from experienced hospitality and culinary leaders. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads with energy and accountability, and is eager to build a career in restaurant leadership. You will develop the operational, financial, and people-management skills needed to successfully lead high-performing teams and deliver exceptional guest experiences. As a Manager in Training, you will rotate through all major operational areas including service, culinary execution, food safety, inventory management, staffing, training, and guest relations. You will work closely with General Managers, Training Leaders, and Executive Leadership to develop the confidence and capability required to lead a successful restaurant operation. • Participate in a structured management development program across multiple operational departments
• Learn daily restaurant operations including service execution, culinary standards, scheduling, labor management, and inventory controls
• Support front-of-house and back-of-house teams during high-volume service periods
• Assist with onboarding and training new team members
• Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and operational standards are consistently maintained
• Shadow experienced restaurant leaders and participate in leadership coaching sessions
• Help drive guest satisfaction by resolving issues and creating positive dining experiences
• Develop knowledge of financial reporting, cost controls, and operational performance metrics
• Support staffing initiatives, shift leadership, and team development efforts
• Travel between restaurant locations within the Kansas City metro area as needed Requirements:
• 2+ years of restaurant or hospitality experience preferred
• Leadership experience in a restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Passion for hospitality, leadership, and guest service excellence
• Willingness to learn both front-of-house and back-of-house operations
• Strong work ethic with a positive and coachable attitude
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to travel within the Kansas City market during training and operational support
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
