Production Lead I

Job Summary

The 2nd shift Wiring Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day direction, guidance, and support to employees performing subassembly wiring operations. This position ensures wiring production activities are completed according to established schedules, quality standards, work instructions, and safety requirements. The Wiring Lead coordinates work assignments, monitors production progress, supports troubleshooting, and communicates production concerns to management. This position also promotes teamwork, process improvement, and effective communication between shifts and departments.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Provide daily direction and guidance to Subassembly Wiring employees to ensure production priorities and scheduled completion dates are met.
• Monitor production progress and ensure wiring subassemblies are completed according to the Smartsheet production schedule.
• Immediately communicate production delays, material shortages, drawing discrepancies, quality concerns, or schedule risks to Production Management.
• Assign and coordinate work among Subassembly Wiring employees based on production priorities, workload, and employee capabilities.
• Verify that team members are properly logged into the appropriate PPCC job for each product being built.
• Monitor wiring operations to ensure employees follow approved work instructions, wiring diagrams, drawings, and established assembly procedures.
• Provide hands-on support and guidance with subassembly wiring, including wire preparation, routing, termination, labeling, crimping, and assembly, as applicable.
• Verify that team members are properly logged into the appropriate PPCC job for each product being produced.
• Monitor machine operations and production processes to identify issues that may affect productivity, quality, or schedule.
• Ensure quality and drawing requirements are understood and followed by team members.
• Work closely with Quality and other departments to identify and resolve production or quality issues.
• Escalate drawing discrepancies, wiring errors, material issues, and technical concerns to the Supervisor, Engineering, Quality, or other appropriate department.
• Promote accurate and consistent production practices, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a neat, organized, and clean production area and ensure team members follow housekeeping expectations.
• Enforce all applicable safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
• Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and coordinate the work of others. Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment-related issues and determine when escalation is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including through email, Basecamp, PPCC, and other company systems.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Ability to use basic measurement instruments to verify components meet required specifications.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to prioritize work based on production schedules and changing business needs.
• Ability to delegate tasks and monitor completion.
• Ability to train and provide guidance to production employees.
• Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and other departments.
• Positive and professional attitude with the ability to promote teamwork and accountability.
• Ability to follow established procedures and carry out assigned responsibilities in an organized and effective manner.

Physical Demands:
• Frequently required to stand for extended periods and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, keyboards, controls, and machine components.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and communicate verbally with team members and management.
• May occasionally be required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work around manufacturing equipment and in a production environment.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
