Comprehensive Pediatric Anatomic Pathology Coverage Academic Medical Center
Are you a highly specialized Pathologist seeking a rewarding institutional role in the Northeast? A premier, Level 1 Trauma academic medical center in New Brunswick, New Jersey, is looking for a Board-Certified Pediatric Pathologist to support their Anatomic Pathology (AP) division. This urgent assignment provides an immersive clinical experience with a balanced caseload, utilizing a collaborative environment and a single, unified EMR network.

Clinical Scope: Handle the comprehensive management of pediatric anatomic pathology specimens. Key daily responsibilities include:

Surgical pathology sign-out of complex pediatric biopsies and surgical resections.
Performing frozen sections and time-sensitive intraoperative consultations.
Overseeing gross examinations and the meticulous triage of specialized pediatric specimens.
Providing autopsy and perinatal/placental autopsy coverage.
Participating in vital multidisciplinary consults alongside pediatric surgeons, oncologists, and neonatology teams.

Case Volume: Manage a diverse and fluctuating daily volume consisting of approximately 10 to 30 surgical pathology cases , 0 to 5 frozen sections , and 0 to 5 consults . Perinatal, placental, and autopsy cases remain at a low volume.
Team Dynamics & Support: You will work alongside several full-time Anatomic Pathology MDs, residency/fellowship trainees, and an experienced laboratory support staff. The locum provider has no supervisory responsibilities over Advanced Practice Providers.
Schedule & Call: Full-time, on-site coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM . This position requires participation in a rotational night and weekend call schedule.
Technology: Streamlined workflow using a centralized Epic system implemented seamlessly across the laboratory and hospital networks.

Contract Structure: Fixed hourly and call-coverage compensation with built-in daily and weekly overtime protections (overtime rates apply after 12 hours in a single day).
Assignment Timeline: Urgent coverage needed immediately, running through November 30, 2026 .
Credentialing: The hospital will grant full clinical privileges, with the timeline managed efficiently through the centralized verification office.

Degree: MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Board Status: Strict Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) AND Pediatric Pathology is required.
Licensure: Must hold an active New Jersey State Medical License.
