Job Description:

The Pricing Manager grows volume and revenue by managing contract pricing solutions, advises on pricing strategies, and provides competitive offers for UPS Accounts. He/She acts as a liaison to UPS internal stakeholders. The position manages new business growth pricing activities, with multi-product (Small Package, Freight, International Airfreight, Ocean Freight, Domestic Airfreight, Brokerage, Supplier Management) pricing efforts, provides project management expertise and support to the organization, and develops project teams. The position may have direct reports, and/or manages Analysts throughout the RFP/RFQ process.

The candidate must demonstrate complex problem solver skills and must be able to turn insights into action. The incumbent assesses the competitive landscape, current market conditions, and profitability of accounts to formulate a pricing strategy, working with Business Development to maximize UPS' value proposition. In addition, they provide project management discipline and methodology to ensure proper governance, strategic alignment, and project success. This role takes ownership of setting and achieving goals but can adapt comfortably to a changing marketplace to win and retain business.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of UPS's products, services, and customer facing technology solutions across multiple business units; develops strategies for cross-portfolio selling opportunities

• Analyzes pricing requests to create competitive proposals to allow sales to align with their value propositions.

• Develops proposals and forwards to sales and other pricing groups to facilitate fulfillment of customer requests.

• Works with contract and legal departments to confirm pricing details on contracts and agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance to policies.

• Provides sales with direction on what options are available and which are appropriate for each engagement.

• Obtains knowledge of pricing systems and tools to accurately track proposals.

• Understands market conditions and rates as they relate to specific sized customers in geographical areas.

• Identifies key factors behind basic problems and establishes a path to solve them; proposes approaches to solve more complicated problems; investigates and diagnoses anomalies in routine business results. 

• Works with appropriate internal systems to ensure timely and accurate pricing.

• Reviews customer accepted pricing proposals to ensure contract integrity.

• Works on various projects centered on process improvements.

• Engages with sales and sales leadership on a daily basis providing consultative advice on competitor activities and pricing strategies

• Assists sales with understanding of pricing systems, strategies, and tactics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or International equivalent

• Bachelor's Degree or International equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field - Preferred

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel – Preferred

• Proficient in pricing systems, including Incentive Administrative System and Deal Manager

• Experience creating cost statements and working with analyzers - Preferred

• Experience demonstrating proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel (ex: creating & using macros) - Preferred

• Exceptional communication skills

• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $8,110 monthly in our lowest geographic market up to $15,025 monthly in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
