($15.97 per hour):Starting pay is $18.64 per hour for the first 90 days.Regular Route Drivers board hired FOLLOWING 90-day probationDental and Vision provided for employees working 20 or more hours per week.Split shift position; drivers must be available between 6:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:00-5:00 p.m.SUB BUS DRIVERS:Paid CDL Training provided ($15.47 per hour) during training.FLEXIBILITY! May work mornings only, afternoons only, or both.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Drives a school bus safely and professionally.Performs and properly completes pre-trip inspections.Complies with all traffic ordinances and regulations.Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation Complies with rules and regulations of the Comstock Park Drivers' Handbook.Participates in on-site training.Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school buses.May start as a bus aide.Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students while transporting them.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily by the end of the trial period.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have an acceptable driving record and be able to pass the physical, including drug test. Continuing education classes must be completed as required to maintain licensing certification.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with a "P" and "S" endorsement. Must pass the State Skill Test and State Written Test. CPR and first aid certification preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-to-one and in small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume and distance.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in various situations.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, parents and students. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, and Department of Transportation physical. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. The employee must be able to climb steps and to access all mirrors, doors, windows and the engine compartment.
