Hardware Engineering - Mechanical Technician IVLocation: Redmon, WADuration: 12+ monthsJob Description: We are looking for a Prototype Assembly Technician specializing in optical system assembly and custom tool operation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in opto-mechanical and electrical assembly techniques (soldering, lamination, machining) and has a good attention to organization and cleanliness. The ideal candidate should be extremely motivated and able to work independently and with ambiguity. Experience in optical, mechanical and electrical testing is a plus.Responsibilities:Lamination and processing of optical assemblies for prototypesHands on active alignment of optical modules used in AR devicesCareful hand assembly work and part processingRework of prototypes and components, both mechanically and electricallyOperating custom calibration and assembly equipmentWriting documentation and reports relating to assembly practices and opto-mechanical test dataMinimum Qualifications:Mechanical background and aptitude5+ years of experience in a related technical fieldBS in ME, optics or related technical fieldExperience in R&D lab for product developmentRapid prototyping (multi-disciplinary collection of skills)Laser safety experienceCalibration experience (camera based sensors)Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and testPreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with clean room procedures and equipmentOptical metrology experiencePrior work in AR/VR or optical consumer productsMust-Have Skills:Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and mechanical modelsClear and concise documentation of assembly and test procedures and reportsFamiliarity with safely operating lasers (up to Class 3B/3R)Nice-to-have Skills:NXVendor interactions - explore new sources of tools, processes and materialsPython, C++
