Bilingual Lead Medical Coordinator - JORThe Lead Medical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing health services as well as coordinating the provision of timely, appropriate health services for children in care. Lead Medical Coordinators supervise Medical Coordinators and provide appropriate staff training on medical, dental, and public health topics relevant to pediatrics, adolescent, and migrant health. They are responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures for confidential health record management, triage of health concerns, medical emergency response, environmental health and safety, and post-release health care planning/care coordination.Responsibilities include performing all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies; providing children with a positive and appropriate medical environment; supervising other Medical Coordinators; developing and maintaining policies and procedures for confidential health record management; ensuring confidentiality of health records; ensuring appropriate communication of health needs to case managers and clinicians; supporting in scheduling health care appointments; assisting in transportation of children to and from health care appointments; assisting in obtaining medical clearances from healthcare providers; preparing Treatment Authorization Requests; ensuring qualified interpretation and translation services are in place; participating in intakes and discharges of children; collaborating with children's assigned cross-functional team and medical, mental health, dental, and pharmacy providers; reporting medical emergencies; elevating issues of medical concern; supporting foster parents by providing education on medical policies; collecting forms and health records from medical providers; completing and submitting all assigned documentation within the required timeframe; maintaining medicine cabinets and first aid kits; providing in-service training and ongoing education to staff and foster parents; maintaining Red Cross CPR/First Aid Trainer's Certifications; assisting and supporting Program Leadership during auditing processes; and performing other duties as requested.Minimum qualifications include being a licensed registered nurse (RN) with a Bachelor's or higher health-related education qualification; bilingual fluency in English and Spanish; minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care; (1) year of experience working in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting; having a valid driver's license, excellent driving record, a safe and clean personal vehicle, and current automobile insurance; being able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs; and proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.Other skills include experience scheduling medical appointments; experience documenting medical appointments; recognizing and understanding the needs of the immigrant population, providing support and creating a safe environment for the children in the program; demonstrated ability to maintain liaisons with community health providers and expand community health network; being open to and willing to work non-traditional hours and be available for on-call phone consultations as needed; use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity; use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands; occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands; and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer who celebrates diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees by prohibiting discrimination and harassment of any kind.
