Chief Engineer

Location: Element San Jose Milpitas What we're looking for High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or trade school education preferred 3-5 years of hotel engineering or facilities maintenance experience, including supervisory experience Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and preventative maintenance programs Experience managing budgets, expenses, and capital projects Ability to lead, train, and schedule a maintenance team Fluency in English Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to asset preservation Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency situations as needed Sense of pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining a safe, well‑maintained property Responsibilities of the position Lead and oversee all engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel Create and manage schedules for the maintenance team to ensure adequate coverage and timely completion of work orders Maintain the overall condition and appearance of the hotel through effective preventative maintenance programs Ensure all guest rooms, public spaces, back‑of‑house areas, and exterior grounds are maintained to brand standards Respond promptly to maintenance requests and coordinate repairs to minimize guest impact Manage departmental budgets, expenses, purchasing, and checkbook reconciliation while maintaining cost controls Monitor utility usage and identify opportunities for energy conservation and operational efficiencies Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including life safety requirements Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and preventative maintenance documentation Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and projects Oversee the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool, and life safety systems Assist in planning and executing capital improvement projects to protect and enhance the hotel asset Train, coach, and develop engineering team members while fostering a culture of safety and accountability Communicate effectively with hotel leadership regarding ongoing projects, repairs, and operational needs Respond to guest concerns in a timely and professional manner to ensure an exceptional guest experience Attend all scheduled meetings, training sessions, and leadership functions The perks of working for us Full suite of benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k), pet insurance, and other supplemental benefits Paid time off for full AND part‑time associates Travel discounts at hotel partners and franchises around the world Participation in our Wellness Program On‑demand pay opportunities for instant pay between paychecks Leadership development programs and career growth opportunities Lodging Dynamics Hospitality Group LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
