Location Avera McKennan Hospital Work Shift Day Shift (United States of America). Hours: 7:30 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. Location closed on weekends and holidays. Pay Range $27.75 – $41.25 per hour, depending on experience. May be eligible for a $3,000 sign‑on bonus. Position Highlights Perform venous and central laboratory specimen collections for oncology patients at the Prairie Center, serving the Avera Cancer Institute clinic. Responsibilities Collect Line‑Based specimens and perform peripheral vein phlebotomy. Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating care plans and pertinent information to the healthcare team, coordinating with other providers, and offering physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; consult with physicians. Develop nursing care plans: obtain medical histories, examine patients, document physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors, establish a nursing diagnosis, set objectives, and outline interventions, schedules and timetables. Teach healthcare requirements: establish patient care goals; instruct patients, families and friends on condition, medications and self‑care skills; answer questions and provide resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against care standards, reviewing records, noting changes, re‑evaluating objectives and modifying care plans. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration protocols, controlled‑substance regulations, organization standards, and legal regulations; alert others regarding potential concerns. Chart patient care services in patient and department records. Keep patient care equipment operating: follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs. Keep supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities per leadership guidance. Qualifications Must work the specified hours. Must have visual acuity adequate for position duties and be able to communicate effectively. High School or GED equivalent. Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Preferred: Associate’s Degree and 1–3 years of clinical experience.
