Nurse Practitioners (Psychiatry)Duties DescriptionNurse Practitioners (Psychiatry) provide psychiatric and behavioral healthcare, working in collaboration with licensed psychiatrists, assessing physical and psychosocial status by means of interview, health and behavioral history, physical examination and diagnostic tests.Work collaboratively with other Psychiatric providers as well as Psychologists, Nurses and Direct Support Professionals through the appropriate prescription and management of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.Identify, measure, and monitor clinical and related outcomes to determine the effectiveness of appropriateness of plan of care.Participate in psychiatric peer review meetings as well as specialized team meetings.Minimum QualificationsNew York State License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND certification by the New York State Education Department in the Psychiatry specialty area to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.Additional CommentsThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.
