Senior Business Analyst

Full‑time position with Lucas James Talent Partners in the United States. Job Information Location: Glen Burnie, MD 21060 Salary: $75,000‑$100,000 (depends on experience) Job Description The Senior Business Analyst – Precision Operations is a deeply analytical, hands‑on role embedded within the Operations team at ADDMAN’s Precision Machining facilities in Wright City, MO and Baltimore, MD. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will serve as the primary analytical resource to site leadership, diving deep into operational data, business performance, and process improvement opportunities to drive better decisions and outcomes. Position subject to ITAR and requires U.S. person status. Responsibilities Business & Operational Analytics (75%) Serve as the primary analytical business partner to site leaders and operations management at Wright City, MO and Baltimore, MD — the go‑to resource for data‑driven decision support. Design and maintain operational dashboards, KPI reporting, and performance scorecards to give leadership real‑time visibility into site performance. Conduct deep‑dive analyses into production efficiency, throughput, capacity utilization, scrap/yield, labor productivity, and other operational metrics; surface trends and recommend corrective actions. Build models and scenario analyses to evaluate operational decisions, capital investments, process changes, and make‑vs‑buy trade‑offs. Identify working capital improvement opportunities through analysis of inventory, WIP, and operational cost drivers. Partner with site leaders to develop and track improvement initiatives; quantify impact and report progress. Proactively leverage AI tools — including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and others — to accelerate analysis, automate reporting, and surface insights faster; this is a core expectation of the role. Support additional business analytical requirements at other ADDMAN sites as needed. Prepare and present clear, executive‑ready summaries and presentations for COO and senior leadership. Identify and drive continuous improvement in analytical processes and reporting infrastructure. Act as the conduit between the Operations team and Finance — translating financial results into operational context and operational realities into financial planning inputs. Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for the Precision Machining business units. Perform margin analysis across products, customers, and processes; identify opportunities to improve contribution margins. Support cost accounting activities including variance analysis, overhead rate review, and standard cost inputs. Partner with site Controllers on month‑end close activities, variance explanations, and ad‑hoc financial analyses. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. Financial Partnership (25%) Act as the conduit between the Operations team and Finance — translating financial results into operational context and operational realities into financial planning inputs. Skill Requirements Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills — able to structure ambiguous problems, build rigorous models, and extract clear insight from complex operational data. Strong business acumen with the ability to connect operational performance to business and financial outcomes in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with AI tools — including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and similar — to accelerate day‑to‑day analytical and reporting tasks; this is a core expectation and will be assessed during the interview process. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data modeling; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools strongly preferred. Experience with ERP systems (Infor and Epicor experience is a plus) and financial planning tools (Vena is a plus). Demonstrated ability to thrive in a hands‑on, fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to present complex data clearly to both operational and executive audiences. Financial literacy including familiarity with P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting concepts. Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple workstreams independently with minimal direction. Collaborative, service‑oriented approach to business partnering. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Operations, Engineering, or a related analytical field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred. 5–8+ years of progressive experience in business analytics, operations analysis, or a closely related field; FP&A experience is a plus but not the primary focus. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is required; precision machining, aerospace, or defense industry experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated track record as a hands‑on analytical partner to an Operations or manufacturing team. Cost accounting experience required, including standard costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing overhead analysis. Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve and accelerate analytical workflows; candidates should be prepared to discuss specific use cases during interviews. Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in a manufacturing context. Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship and must be an eligible U.S. Person (ITAR requirement). Work Environment & Physical Demands This role is on‑site at either the Wright City, MO or Baltimore, MD Precision Machining facility. The work environment includes both professional office settings and active manufacturing floor environments. Standard office equipment is used regularly. Travel of approximately 25% between the two sites is required. Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
