Athletic Trainer - Outreach

divh2Athletic Trainer/h2pIBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice that must excel in IBJIs core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. The role of the ATC functions as a liaison between patients, athletes, physicians, physical therapists, and administration. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing superior care to patients and clients, providing athletic training coverage at various events, and educating the public on health-related awareness/prevention topics. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best community experience possible./pulliPromote and provide excellent patient care./liliDevelop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI./liliCommunicate with physicians, clinical staff, coaches and parents regarding patient conditions, plan of care, treatments, and protocols./liliDevelop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician recommendations./liliProper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking./liliCompliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)./liliParticipates in programs sponsored by IBJI: clinical meetings, mentoring, clinical educator, special interest groups, community outreach./liliPrevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages./liliDemonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics/liliAbility to perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing./liliOutreach ATCs are expected to provide medical coverage at games, practices and/or tournaments. These events will be scheduled with the Athletic Training Program Coordinator and may include weekend and/or evening events./liliReturn voicemail and email messages in a timely manner./liliAttend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing./liliAlways follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations./liliOther duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor/liliMaintain a clean and safe work environment./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpRequirements/ppEducation/pulliGraduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program/li/ulpCertifications/Licensure/pulliBOC Certified Athletic Trainer/liliHold or eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing/li/ulpExperience/pulliStrong rehabilitation skill set preferred/liliAdditional manual therapy or sports performance background preferred, but not required/liliExperience working in a physician or physical therapy clinic preferred, but not required/li/ulpTechnical Skills/pulliKnowledge in medical terminology preferred/li/ulpSoft Skills/pulliProfessional and effective written and verbal communication skills./liliAble to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment./liliAble to function as a team leader/li/ulpPhysical Requirements/pulliStand or sit for extended periods of time/liliAbility to lift greater than 25 pounds/liliDemonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing/liliAbility to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes/liliAbility to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day/li/ulpThis description is intended to provide only basic guidelines for meeting job requirements.
