Mobile Diesel Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician performs advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of an Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. They continue to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair a wide range of truck equipment. Inspect, test, and use diagnostic instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are functioning properly. Identify problems, determine relevance of information, and evaluate alternatives. Manage parts inventory and reconcile company‑issued service truck parts. Maintain and operate service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Communicate with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve problems. Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work in company systems, upload pictures, and complete Repair Orders using iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors. Communicate with management/support via email or phone for approvals and purchase orders. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Requirements High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination). Possess and supply necessary hand tools. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass DOT regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or provide valid DOT medical card with >4 months validity). Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license with ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. Safe driving record required. Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Compensation Hourly pay rate ranges from $26.73 to $40.10 per hour. Base rate may vary within the range based on location and qualifications.
