Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized cardiac nursing care to patients in a stepdown unit, monitoring post-surgical recovery and managing cardiac conditions. Ensure patient safety, stability, and compliance with clinical protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions regularly, including cardiac vitals and EKG interpretation.
• Administer cardiac drips, insulin, and post-surgical medications accurately.
• Monitor and respond to patient needs promptly, escalating concerns as necessary.
• Document patient care activities and updates in the EMR system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Pass competency exams such as EKG, and demonstrate experience with CV patient post-op care.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license and meet state licensure requirements.
• Possess at least 2 years of recent experience in cardiac stepdown nursing.
• Have current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and SC certifications.
• Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac drips and insulin management.
• Be able to pass the EKG competency exam prestart.
• Exhibit strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
