Organization:
Chautauqua Striders is a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring and guidance of youth through education, advocacy, and athletics. We are currently seeking a dedicated Academic Coordinator to supervise our tutoring staff in the Jamestown Public School After-School Programs (ASP).
Program Overview:
These After-School Programs are run in partnership with Jamestown Public Schools , the YMCA of Jamestown , and the YWCA of Jamestown . Chautauqua Striders provides 1–2 tutors per site to support students in grades K–8 with homework help and academic enrichment , Monday through Thursday (sometimes Fridays) from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM throughout the school year.
This position is for the 2026-2027 school year. Start date will be August 24th, 2026.
Schedule: Part-Time, 10 months
- 18 hours/week
- Up to 12 additional hours/week as a substitute tutor
Site Locations:
- Fletcher Elementary
- Love Elementary
- Lincoln Elementary
- Persell Middle
Position Summary:
The Academic Coordinator is responsible for the hiring, training, supervision, and support of after-school tutors at assigned program sites. This role includes collaboration with school partners and participation in:
- Chautauqua Striders’ bi-weekly staff meetings
- Monthly trainings and meetings through Jamestown Public School
- Special events and program-related activities as needed
✅ Qualifications:
- Supervisory Experience
- Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Experience working with youth and families
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and sound judgment
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Basic computer proficiency
- Reliable transportation
- Availability Monday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–5:30 PM (additional hours flexible)
