Senior Quality Control Technician:
Position Summary The Senior Quality Control Technician is responsible for leading and supporting quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure products consistently meet established standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as a technical resource within the quality team, providing guidance on inspection methods, process controls, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Quality Control Technician works closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to maintain product quality and drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Perform and oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product compliance with specifications and quality standards. • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs, and related tools. • Review and validate inspection records, quality documentation, and test results for accuracy and completeness. • Identify, document, and escalate non-conforming materials, components, or processes. • Lead investigations related to quality issues and support root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and corrective action methodologies. • Support implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Train and mentor junior quality technicians and inspectors on inspection methods, quality procedures, and best practices. • Monitor production processes and provide recommendations to improve product quality and process efficiency. • Support internal audits, customer audits, and compliance activities related to ISO standards and customer requirements. • Analyze quality data and generate reports, metrics, and trend analyses for management review. • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality-related concerns. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and SPC activities. • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements. • Assist in developing and updating quality procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions. • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, validation processes, and quality readiness reviews. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred. • Minimum 5+ years of experience in quality inspection, quality control, or manufacturing environments. • Strong understanding of quality systems and manufacturing processes. • Experience using precision inspection and measurement tools. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and BOMs. • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems. • Experience with ERP/MRP systems. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. • Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies and corrective action processes. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in electronics, server, manufacturing, or high-tech production environments. • Certification in Quality Assurance or Quality Control (ASQ CQI, CQT, or similar) preferred. • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis techniques. • Experience supporting customer audits and supplier quality activities. • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. • Prior leadership, mentoring, or training experience. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while monitoring production and inspection activities. • Frequent movement throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and inspection areas. • Capability to lift, carry, or move materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. as needed. • Manual dexterity required for operating precision measurement tools and equipment. • Visual acuity necessary for inspecting components, reading technical drawings, and identifying defects. • Ability to respond quickly to production issues or safety concerns in an active industrial environment. Work Environment • Climate-controlled warehouse and manufacturing/assembly facility. • Fast-paced production environment with ongoing inspections and quality monitoring. • Frequent interaction with production, engineering, logistics, and supply chain personnel. • Exposure to industrial equipment, machinery, and active production areas. • Requirement to follow company safety procedures and quality standards. • Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required based on production demands and business needs.
