CMM Programmer

Sr. Metrology Quality TechnicianThe Sr. Metrology Quality Technician supports new product development and metrology investigations through sample measurements and feedback, has early involvement in drawing and GD&T reviews and measurement capability evaluations.Essential FunctionsApply advanced knowledge of GD&T and metrology principles to program CMM's/vision systems ensuring products meet specifications and drawingsResolve issues and respond to inquiries from operators, inspectors and engineersWork with Quality Engineering to ensure that set-ups and programs are accurateParticipate in or lead special projects related to tooling fixtures and gagesIdentify and drives cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principleWork closely with the team to determine efficiency improvementsCreate CMM programs using part drawings or models and perform inspections as requiredTroubleshoot and/or amend existing CMM programsPerform validation and verification of programs (CMM, vision systems, etc.)Take critical measurements using gauges, fixtures and other measurement toolsProvide inspection support to all departments, performing part inspection and FAIsTrain other inspectors and techniciansPerform other responsibilities as requiredCompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of metrology programs and strong working knowledge of GD&T (read and interpret)Experience in a manufacturing environment including mechanical inspection of precision partsSolid experience with inspection equipment and toolsProficiency in CMM programming skills/trainingKnowledge of ERP systemsAbility to multi-task without losing track of detailsGood verbal and written communication skills (in English)Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office suiteWork EnvironmentThis job operates in a manufacturing environment and routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery.Physical DemandsManual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision workVisual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specificationsFrequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and armsOccasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsAbility to squat or kneel occasionallyPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time hourly position and operates Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.TravelOccasional (Less than 10%)Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment including mechanical inspection of precision partsMinimum of 6 years of experience with inspection equipment and tools.Minimum of 4 years of experience with advanced CMM programming.Minimum of 4 years of experience using advanced vision system programming.Harmonic Drive LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.U.S. Export Controls Requirements: This job may require access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States.
