Senior Preconstruction Project Engineer - Battery Storage

Key Responsibilities Assess energy storage technologies and site layout options with respect to long-term project performance requirements to deliver maximum potential project value while minimizing execution and operating risks. Analyze, assess, and present project technical risks and determination of de-risking solutions. Develop project capital and operational cost estimates and milestone schedules to be used in project financial valuation models. Provide technical and project management support throughout the development cycle, including site visits, interfacing with third-party consultants, and supporting meetings with local project authorities. Support offtake, equipment procurement, as well as engineering and construction contracting activities to move projects towards NTP. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline required. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in technical roles or fields. Experience in Power, Energy, Renewables, or BESS with familiarity of industry-specific terminology required. Knowledge of value proposition and technical fundamentals of energy storage development. Broad knowledge required with preference for additional depth in one or more focus areas. Demonstrated success with technical-commercial contract negotiations to support offtake, equipment supply, engineering, and construction agreements. Experience reviewing engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with AutoCAD. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross‑functional environment with both technical and non‑technical team members who are geographically dispersed. Proactive mindset to identify risks or obstacles ahead of time and drive solutions. Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information and make sound, timely choices aligned with organizational goals. Persuasive, clear, and concise writing and presentation skills. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools and applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability and willingness to travel domestically approximately 25% of the time. The expected salary range* for this position begins at $120,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual bonus program.
