SUMMARY

Together with our community, we provide nutritious food and essential resources so our neighbors facing hunger can thrive. The Root Cause Coordinator for Workforce and Resource Navigation supports this mission by assisting neighbors in the Greater Cleveland Food Bank service area to navigate food programs within their community while connecting them to resources, primarily resources around workforce and stabilizing programs. This position requires significant knowledge of programs, processes and organizations that impacts household stability, as well as knowledge of wrap-around service models. This position requires knowledge in workforce development and successful strategies to engage community members in training and development programs. This position helps to track the short and long-term impact of this work. This position also requires the coordinator to build partnerships with community organizations, organizations stationed at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s Community Resource Center(s) and work with internal staff and agency partners to connect eligible community members to benefits, programs and referrals. This role is vital in helping individuals and families achieve economic stability and upward mobility.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

• Conduct outreach to connect neighbors to workforce-related organizations co-located at GCFB’s Community Resource Center(s) and others in the community.
• Receive and respond to referrals from GCFB team members.
• Complete resource screenings for households and assess the need for wrap around services in the areas of health, housing, socioeconomic and employment. Connect neighbors to meaningful resources that will best support their household’s stability; document interventions while managing actively engaged household cases.
• Assist households in creating goals; provide support in areas including financial literacy, housing stability and career development.
• Track progress towards goals, ensure accurate data entry in CAP60 and compile data as needed for grants, programming improvements and community impact.
• Curate programming to directly support neighbors, convene community partners, utilize and share best practices both inside and outside of the organization.
• Assist with and/or create program materials.
• Cultivate and/or enhance direct referral relationships with community organizations and employers that provide programming, resources and opportunities for neighbors. Track the progress of referrals to appropriate partner agencies and programs to access nutritional, medical, housing and socioeconomic support.
• Establish core metrics to track the success of programming related to workforce with a focus on connections to meaningful and/or gainful employment or training. Track and report on data to directors and senior leaders; work closely with the GCFB measurement team to report on outcomes of programming.
• Work closely with Community Resource Center partners and the GCFB measurement team to track and collect data and outcomes related to individuals and families who successfully receive services at the CRCs and improve their overall food security.
• Work directly with neighbors to assist them in applying and obtaining SNAP, Medicare subsidies and other public benefit programs using the Ohio Benefits state-wide software.
• Work closely with other Feeding America Food Banks to stay current with national root cause and workforce development work.
• Read, respond to and be responsible for information relayed via e-mail, text message and instant message communications from staff and supervisors on all assigned work days.
• Maintain required job knowledge, skills and maintain required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies. Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings.
• Collaborate with community organizations to host job and resources fairs in the GCFB service area.
• Support all Outreach team functions at the Community Resource Center(s) including but not limited to supporting Access Desk engagement
• Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. May participate in one of the following: LEAN council, a kaizen, 5S campaign or other process improvement efforts to support continuous improvement and improved processes within the food bank.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred/equivalent experience required. A minimum of four years’ experience in executing case management services required. Knowledge of public benefits, financial literacy, workforce/employment initiatives, and housing stability principles required. Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with strong attention to detail. Must be able to effectively work in a team atmosphere with highly diverse people. Must be oriented towards efficient problem solving, multi-tasking and teamwork. Proficiency in Windows based computer software required. Knowledge of CAP60 database is beneficial, but not required. The ability to execute and coordinate virtual meetings preferred. Database experience a plus. Unencumbered driver’s license is required. Required commitment to making interactions across different cultures and backgrounds a strength of our organization as demonstrated through work, life or community experience.

Physical Requirements and Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee will be required to travel to various locations in the community.

Salary Range: $44,900 - $49,845 per year, commensurate with experience
