Opening at Navy Yard in summer 2026, we are building a team that leads with warmth, operates with precision, and believes that hospitality is something you feel.

The Role

The Food Runner is the bridge between kitchen and dining room — the one who ensures every dish arrives at the table hot, correct, and exactly as the kitchen intended. You will move with pace and precision during service, know the menu inside and out, and support the floor team in delivering a seamless guest experience. This role is a great entry point into Bar Nuestro's service team for someone eager to learn the menu and grow into serving or bartending.

Key Responsibilities

Food Delivery & Service 

• Maintain solid working knowledge of the food menu, including ingredients and preparation
• Stay current on daily specials, 86'd items, and menu changes each shift
• Communicate allergen or dietary concerns to the kitchen and servers as needed

Kitchen & Floor Coordination

• Communicate clearly with expeditors, cooks, and servers to keep the pass moving and tickets accurate
• Support pacing by flagging table status and course timing to servers and management
• Assist servers and bussers with table resets, side work, and general floor support during peak periods
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pass, tray stands, and expo area

Operations Support

• Follow all opening, closing, and side-work procedures as assigned
• Support private events and offsite catering service as needed
• Participate in pre-shift meetings, tastings, and menu trainings
• Report any equipment, safety, or facility issues to management promptly

Growth & Development

• Take an active interest in the techniques, ingredients, and stories behind Bar Nuestro's menu
• Show interest in cross-training toward serving or other FOH roles
• Contribute ideas and feedback on service flow and the guest experience

What We're Looking For

• Prior food running, busser, or related restaurant experience preferred; no serving experience required
• Ability to move quickly and stay organized during high-volume, fast-paced service
• Strong communication skills between kitchen and floor
• Genuine interest in hospitality, food, and growing within the restaurant
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus — not required
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as service schedules demand
• Ability to lift and carry loaded trays and stand or walk for extended periods
