Hours for this position are 11:00pm-7:00am, 5 days per week.

The Refrigeration Mechanic I makes an impact by:

• Installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial refrigeration, boiler, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, heating, water treatment, and related systems in accordance with blueprints, engineering specifications, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Performing preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system testing using appropriate electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tools and equipment; replacing or adjusting defective components as needed.
• Assembling, aligning, and installing piping, valves, pumps, compressors, controls, motors, and related components; starting up, shutting down, evacuating, recharging, and monitoring systems to ensure proper pressure, temperature, and performance.
• Operating and maintaining boilers and auxiliary equipment, conducting fire pump testing, monitoring system readings, and responding appropriately to alarms and performance variances.
• Maintaining labeling, completing required documentation and purchase requisitions, and supporting equipment cleaning and sanitation activities.
• Maintaining required certifications (including respirator/mask qualification) and complying with all safety, GMP, SQF, regulatory, and company standards to ensure the production of safe, quality food.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
• Working overtime, including weekends, as required to meet manufacturing needs.

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma required
• Ammonia/NH3 experience is a plus (Ammonia Operator 1 or RETA)
• Must work in a team environment
• Maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, ending, lunch and break schedules
• Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and safety guidelines
• Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Physical demands:

• The employee is required to talk and/or hear in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are high (PPE required).
• The employee is required to wear mandated PPE based on assigned job area.
• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in a manufacturing environment for 8+ hours.
• The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks.
• Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks.
• The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.
• Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required.
• Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull 50 pounds on a regular basis.
