Job Summary

The Packaging Manager oversees day-to-day packaging operations, leading, motivating, and supporting the packaging team through a collaborative approach and open communication. This role involves planning, scheduling, strategizing, and overseeing all packaging activities, with a continuous focus on enhancing quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

As Packaging Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Executing packaging plans based on marketing requirements, staffing availability, and equipment capacity, ensuring consistent product quality that meets specifications.
• Supervising and training the packaging team on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), investigations, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), and protocols, and managing quality issues effectively.
• Maintaining a GMP-compliant work environment and ensuring the production of high-quality products in adherence to FDA, OSHA, and company manufacturing standards.
• Optimizing the use of available resources for efficient product manufacturing that meets or exceeds requirements for cost, quality, and delivery.
• Managing packaging-related Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, ensuring accurate data entry.
• Overseeing the execution of packaging exhibit, characterization, and validation batches, as well as the cleaning verification/validation of packaging equipment.
• Monitoring packaging-related change controls, deviations, and investigations; implementing CAPAs and action items in a timely manner. Reviewing and approving packaging records, protocols, and reports as necessary.
• Enforcing all safety and SOP procedures.
• Reporting to the departmental head on ongoing measurements, progress, issues, corrective action status, and planned projects.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Reporting & Collaboration

This role reports to the Site Head/General Manager and involves close collaboration with Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor of Science in Science, Pharmacy, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of packaging supervisor experience within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
• Specific experience in bottling packaging line operations within a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing environment is required, with pharmaceutical packaging experience highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate computers and telephones.
• Requires close vision for computer-related tasks.
• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
• Ability to perform light to moderate lifting (up to 10-15 lbs).
• May involve working in confined areas.

Travel

• 10% travel required.
