Structural Project Engineer

Established in 2009, William J. Peltier and Associates, Inc. (WJPA) is an award-winning structural engineering consulting firm specializing in assisting commercial and institutional clients deliver ground-breaking projects. WJPA has offices in Metro Atlanta and Washington DC and is licensed in over twenty states in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

WJPA has earned a reputation as a thoughtful, pragmatic design practice. We serve architectural clients, but also work directly with owners, contractors and other construction project partners. In addition to traditional structural design, WJPA offers expertise in construction engineering and demolition consulting.

We are looking for candidates to fill the position of Structural Project Engineer (buildings) for our Washington DC office. The Structural Project Engineer position is intended to perform a design-through-construction role with responsibilities in Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Document Production, Contract Administration, Site Observations, and project close-out. STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain and broaden knowledge of our business and WJPA clients.
• Maintain and broaden knowledge of the most current building codes and standards.
• Maintain and develop proficiency in Autocad, Revit, and structural engineering analysis/design software.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues on WJPA client accounts, including project engineering, contract drawing production, and construction administration. The complexity of tasks will be commensurate with your level of experience and professional growth.
• Communicate with WJPA employees, clients, and outside project stakeholders using effective oral and written communication styles.
• Participate in project site observations, field investigations, and project meetings with supervision as appropriate.
• Manage individual assignments and deadlines while contributing to multiple active projects.
• Participate in internal quality control and drawing review processes.
• Join WJPA as a stakeholder in your professional growth and development.

STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, master's degree preferred.
• EIT certification required

Qualifications:

• 1+ years' structural engineering experience required in new and existing buildings utilizing steel, concrete, timber, and masonry design.

This is an onsite position located in Alexandria, VA 22304 – with weekly work from home benefits
