Custodian

Position Overview Under the direction of the Custodial Manager and/or his/herdesignee, the custodian will be responsible for custodialoperations, including cleaning and maintenance of various buildingson the College’s campus. The custodian will work with the custodialstaff to effectively meet the College’s physical needs and supportits overall mission, including working in different buildings asneeded. Primary Responsibilities Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping,dusting, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paperproducts and soap dispensers. Collect and dispose of interior and exterior trash andrecycling by transporting materials to designated campus dumpstersand compactors. Perform specialized cleaning services, including carpetextraction, window cleaning, floor care, and stain removal. Respond to facility emergencies, including water leaks,flooding, and other incidents requiring water restoration andcleanup. Transport custodial equipment, supplies, and restorationequipment between campus buildings as needed. Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on custodialequipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient operation. Identify and report building maintenance issues observed whileperforming custodial duties to ensure timely repairs. Properly wear and utilize required Personal ProtectiveEquipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, masks, and otherprotective equipment as required by the task being performed. Perform minor repairs to the facility like shutting off a valveto stop a leak or repairing a flooring issue that is a triphazard. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, includingcustodial closets and storage areas, while ensuring compliance withOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulationsand Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements. Assist with snow and ice removal around building entrances,sidewalks, and other designated areas to maintain safe accessduring inclement weather. Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability bymaintaining regular attendance and fulfilling assigned workresponsibilities. Assist with campus events by setting up and breaking downfurniture and equipment, monitoring restrooms and trashreceptacles, and ensuring event spaces remain clean, stocked, andpresentable throughout the event. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned tosupport departmental and institutional operations. Qualifications High school diploma is required. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Strong knowledge of custodial best practices, and operationalefficiencies. Able to operate custodial equipment. Fluent in English language and able to communicate withothers. Higher Education, or multi-building property managementpreferred. 3 years of experience in custodian/cleaning services ispreferred A valid driver’s license is required.
