TRANSPORTER - INSIDE TRANSPORT

BASIC FUNCTION :

To act as a patient advocate, provide excellent customer service, provide a safe and timely transportation of patients from rooms to tests or procedures and back and the delivery of paperwork to floors and departments. Responsible for training and supervision and the of colleagues on the job.

JOB DUTIES:

1. To safely transport patients to all areas of the hospital, making sure they are as comfortable as possible
2. Always introduce yourself to patient and advise them of what you are doing.
3. Assist with training of new hires and management of work schedules.
4. Report all complaints and process issues to director and assist with process with improvement.
5. Avoid mishandling and undue haste while working expeditiously to accomplish each task.
6. Reassure patients and/or family members by working in a confident, efficient manner.
7. Make sure transport equipment is clean and in good repair.
8. Make sure transport equipment is put back in its place after use.
9. Enter an accurate daily log of all transports into the productivity tracker.
10. All other duties assigned by Director.

AGE APPROPRIATE CARE :

Colleague has been instructed in providing customer service and on interacting with age groups as related to the department's general client population: including use of appropriate interventions, communication and skills to match the age and/or abilities of the patient/family.

1. Pagers
2. Phones
3. Wheelchairs/ Carts/Geri chairs
4. IV Pumps/o2 Equipment
5. Computer
6. Personal Protective Equipment
7. Cleaning Equipment/Supplies

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE :

High school graduate or equivalent; experience working on a computer preferred. Complete SILT training yearly. BLS through the American Heart Association required within 3 months of hire/transfer and maintained.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ability to work and communicate with others, must be self motivated, ability to work without direct supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

1. Must be able to lift minimum of 50 lbs.

2. Must be able to walk and or stand for long periods of time

3. Must be able to transport patients in wheelchairs, carts, and beds.
