Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
• Ability to interpret classroom instruction, student interactions, meetings, and other school activities
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, sensitivity, and professional boundaries
• Flexibility in adapting to various subjects and educational levels
• Able to work collaboratively with educators and student support teams
• Commitment to promoting accessibility and inclusion in a school environment
• Professional certification or meeting state/local interpreter requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide clear, accurate, and impartial interpretation between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and hearing individuals
• Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and IEP meetings
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support individualized student needs
• Assist in preparing learning materials when necessary to support communication
• Advocate for best practices to enhance accessibility for all students
• Maintain ethical standards set by national and state interpreter organizations
