The Role

• Full‑time, hospital‑based, working‑leader position overseeing medical quality and doctor development across assigned hospitals
• Lead, mentor, and retain associate veterinarians; foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports growth and engagement
• Provide clinical oversight and quality assurance through medical record reviews, audits, and patient safety initiatives
• Deliver veterinary services in a portion of scheduled time; the clinical-to‑leadership mix varies based on hospital needs
• Partner with practice managers to align team performance with care standards and operational goals
• Coach new graduates and newly hired veterinarians to build confidence in clinical, surgical, and dental skills
• Support recruitment by interviewing candidates and providing a strong in‑hospital experience for visiting students and doctors
• Manage controlled substance compliance and uphold all local, state, and federal regulations
• Address client concerns related to medical care and champion a positive client experience
• Oversee requests for medical equipment and ensure appropriate maintenance
• Local travel between assigned hospitals; some Saturday coverage aligned to posted hours

Requirements

• DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution
• Active Ohio veterinary license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain) and proficiency in controlled substance management
• Proven clinical experience, including routine surgery and dentistry; prior leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills; comfort with computer‑based medical systems
• Ability to travel locally between assigned hospitals as needed
• Authorization to work in the United States
