Description: The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation to determine if the patient's condition requires hospital admission or if the patient can be treated and released home safely. The Observation unit operates in a very fast-paced environment, handling 20 to 27 patients per day with an average length of stay of 27 hours. The unit has 24/7 provider coverage and provides care for a diverse adult population of both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients. Patients may range from those needing short stays to full admissions.
